Monitor USB & Audio Devices on Windows
Tired of those mysterious USB connect/disconnect sounds on your Windows PC and having no idea which device is causing them? Device Radar is a free, browser-based tool that runs entirely on your computer — no software installation, no data collection, no privacy concerns.
Simply click Start Scanning in Chrome or Edge, and the app will detect every USB and audio device connected to your system in real-time. When a device is plugged in or disconnected, it appears instantly in the device list with a precise timestamp, so you can finally identify the culprit behind those distracting sound notifications.
How It Works
- Open the app in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge (WebUSB support required)
- Click Start Scanning to begin monitoring your connected devices
- Plug in or unplug a USB or audio device — it will appear instantly in the device list
- Match the sound you hear with the device that just connected or disconnected
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I find which USB device is causing Windows sound notifications?
- Start scanning with Device Radar, then listen for the sound. The device that appears in the list at that exact moment is the one causing the notification. The app logs every connection and disconnection event with timestamps.
- What causes random USB connect/disconnect sounds on Windows?
- Loose cables, failing USB ports, power management settings that turn off devices to save energy, or a malfunctioning peripheral can all cause devices to intermittently disconnect and reconnect. Device Radar helps you identify which specific device is responsible.
- How to monitor Bluetooth device connections on Windows?
- Device Radar tracks audio devices (including Bluetooth headphones and headsets) alongside USB devices. When a Bluetooth audio device connects or disconnects, it will appear in the audio device list with a timestamp.
- Is my data safe? Does this app collect any information?
- Yes. Device Radar runs entirely in your browser. All device data is stored locally in your browser's localStorage. No data is ever sent to any server, cloud service, or third party. Your privacy is fully protected.
- Which browsers are supported?
- The app requires Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge because they are the only browsers that support the WebUSB API. Firefox and Safari do not currently support WebUSB.
